Screening tests at school are highly effective

School vision and hearing screening is highly validated in the medical world

Why test your child at all? They look normal to me.

Unfortunately, most children fail to tell anyone they have an eye or ear issue
as they don’t notice themselves.

It’s also very difficult for busy parents and teachers to pick up an issue.

School Health Check solves this by offering to test every child at school.

Vision and hearing problems are easily treatable

Your child may have a lazy eye or glue ear

A lazy eye is one which fails to develop normally in young children.
Thankfully it is easily treated if detected with patches or glasses. There is a risk of a lifelong lazy eye if it is missed.

Chronic glue ear is where wax impacts the ear canal and can affect hearing.
Treatment may include the insertion of grommets. Poor hearing in the
classroom can cause concentration problems in your child.

You don’t have to take a risk with these common conditions.

School Health Check detects these issues.

How School Health Check helped Jake and his hearing loss…

‘I am writing to thank School Health Check for the wonderful service you provided.

Our son Jake is in Reception and is four years old.

He was booked in for a vision and hearing test at school that helped identify that further investigation was necessary for his hearing.

Within days of receiving your report we had booked him in with a specialist children’s ENT centre who confirmed that indeed his hearing was weak and that he was suffering from a condition called ’Glue ears’.

This diagnosis does unfortunately require him to have grommets inserted but it does however come as a relief to us as Jake has not been participating in class as he should and was not too comfortable in group environments.

These reactions and others could very well all be down to his condition.

So thanks to a quick and easy test at school, Jake is now booked in for an operation that could be life changing and help him avoid years of social discomfort.

I am very grateful that a service such as yours exists and truly hope that all schools offer this service to parents.

Had it not been for the test at school we could not have guessed that Jake was struggling with his hearing.

Thank you so much’

Jake’s Dad
